Trapping the mouse…..

Last Friday I made a spinach pie.  After tea I got distracted with other things and it ended up staying out on top of the stove overnight.  We thought nothing of it but simply covered it up and put it in the fridge in the morning.  The next day, one or both of us had some for lunch. A bit later Bruce had some for tea as well and we went to watch a dvd in the study.  We came out for a break and Bruce saw a mouse in the pie plate!!!  We wondered if it had been near the pie the previous night as it had been uncovered - we sincerely hoped not.

Well then we had to go about trapping it.  The first night we tried chocolate. It was gone in the morning but the trap was still empty.  The next night we tried spinach pie (we kept a bit just to try and catch the mouse - no, of course we didn't eat any more!) and still the trap was empty. The final night we tried peanut butter.  Bruce's theory was that the mouse was really after fat - that was why it liked the spinach pie (all that cheese) and the chocolate.  The other thing about using peanut butter is that it's very sticky and the mouse would not be able to just pull it off the trap.

Hmm, great theory and........hey, IT WORKED!

  1. Where there's one mouse there's bound to be more.  Get a cat :P !!

  2. Yes good idea......but Bruce doesn't like cats.  He thinks they're all feral. :(
