The splinter

During the recent King and I rehearsals, Bruce managed to somehow get a splinter in his foot.  (Being set in "Siam" much of the time he was barefoot).  He showed to me the part he had pulled out and it was at least 14 or 15cm long!  Quite a large bit of wood but it had a point to it!  Anyway, he thought that in pulling the bit of wood out some may have broken off and left a smaller splinter behind.  It was a bit sore still so he went to the doctor to get it checked out.  The doctor poked around a bit but couldn't find anything and gave him a tetanus injection as a safety measure.

All that happened over a month ago.  Earlier this week, just before we left for Hobart, he went to the doctor again because his toe just didn't feel right.  He felt he couldn't bend in the same way he'd been able to before the splinter.  Well, I was flabbergasted when he came home with a splinter nearly 3cm long which the doctor had cut out of his toe!  You would have thought it would cause a lot of pain being so long but it had felt nearly normal!

I'll post a picture when I can.

  2. I know how he feels!  I managed to get a jab in the knuckle from a rose thorn about 2 months ago whilst out in the garden.  I thought I had removed the thorn but about a week later it began to look slightly red and swollen.  I have tried, but I can't see the bit that is left in there and therefore can't remove it!  I even tried mag sulph on it for 4 nights to try and draw it out but with no success.  It is the knuckle of my index finger and is very easy to knock and very painful when I do!
